Mohaymen Looks to Remsen

GII Nashua S. winner Mohaymen (Tapit) is being aimed for a start in the GII Remsen S. Nov. 28, according to trainer Kiaran
McLaughlin. The half-brother to GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile hero New Year’s Day (Street Cry {Ire}), who was purchased for a joint-highest $2.2 million at Keeneland September in 2014, was successful in his Belmont unveiling Sept. 9 before his Nashua score Nov. 4.
“He’s doing great,” said McLaughlin. “He just had one work in between because he’s back a little quick. We’ve taken him to the gate a couple times because he was naughty at the gate [in the Nashua]. The first time he was great, but the second time he got a little difficult. He reared up in the paddock when he was being saddled and he was funny at the gate, so we’ve taken him back to the gate two or three times and he’s been really good. We worked him behind dirt the other day, behind two horses. He took a lot of dirt but did not react at all. We did it just in case; you have to do it at some point. At least we don’t have to worry about him if he has to sit fourth in the race.”
